In
1999 the National Fire Protection Association published
it’s Firefighter Fatalities and Firefighter Injuries Reports
which stated:
"
In the past decade roughly half of all firefighters deaths
occurred on the fireground, and another 25 percent of deaths
occurred while firefighters were responding to, or returning
from, alarms. Last year saw more than the usual share-close
to a third of firefighter deaths occurring while the
firefighters were responding two, or returning from, alarms."
"According
to the National Fire Protection Association
accidents involving fire department emergency vehicles went
from 11,325 in 1990 up to 15,450
in 1999"
